Delete your data
How to delete your household or your login, what's removed, and the little we keep.
Before you delete
- Download a copy in Settings → Your data if you want to keep anything. Deleting can't be undone.
- If you pay for a plan, cancel it in Settings → Plan first. Deleting the household doesn't cancel billing by itself.
Delete your household
- Sign in as an adult in the household.
- Go to Settings → Danger zone and choose Delete family profile.
- Type DELETE and tap Permanently delete.
It happens straight away and everyone in the household is signed out. This removes every member profile, event, chore, task, reward, shopping list, saved place, connected calendar and the events it brought in, helper and helper job, pending invite, Ask Saku chat and question count, and scan record.
Delete your login
Deleting the household removes its data but leaves each adult's sign-in in place, so you could start or join another household. To delete your login as well, including your email address, email AskSaku@asksaku.com from the address on the account with “Delete my Ask Saku account” in the subject. We'll confirm it's you and delete it within 30 days. If you just want to leave a household, ask its owner to remove you.
Delete a single thing
Any event, chore, task, list item, place, helper or chat can be deleted on its own in the app, and it's removed straight away. A parent can delete a child's profile from the Family page.
What we keep
- Payment records needed for billing, tax and fraud prevention, for as long as the law requires.
- Error logs, for up to 72 hours.
- Reports you sent us with “Need help?”, unless you ask us to delete them.
- Backups, which age out shortly afterwards and aren't used to bring deleted data back.
Connected calendars
Ask Saku only reads your Google, Apple or Outlook calendar through the link you gave it; it never changes those calendars. Deleting the household removes the copied events and stops future syncs. To stop the link working anywhere, reset or unpublish it in that calendar's own settings.
